Michigan Equality and local LGBT allies are joining together in an event with Soulforce's Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights.

Seven Straight Nights is a coordinated campaign of vigils led by straight allies who are speaking out about LGBT rights. Our event will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 East Grand River Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48912. Please click here for driving directions.

The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.. The Michigan premiere of the award winning documentary, "For the Bible Tells Me So" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. This film reconciles homosexuality and scripture in a manner that people, religious or not, can understand. The movie portrays the journey of five families as they discover that the Bible does not condemn what we know as homosexuality to be a sin.

After the film, join us for a modertated discussion about the movie and a candlelight vigil outside of the church.

If you are interested in attending this event, please RSVP here. A $5.00 donation is requested to help cover the costs of screening the film. If you would like more information please contact Nancy English at 517-484-5120 or via email.

In conjuction with Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights and the screening of "For the Bible Told Me So," Michigan Equality has launched the "Ryan Sorba Penny-A-Word Pledge." We're asking that for every hateful word spoken by Ryan Soyba during his speech to YAF members at MSU, that you donate one penny! For more information about this pledge, please click here.
