Brendan Beery
Brendan Beery is a professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he teaches courses in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, and Legal Research and Writing, among others. He is also a 1998 graduate of Cooley Law School, where he was a scholarship student; he graduated summa cum laude, first in his class. Beery also holds a B.A. degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
After graduating from Cooley, Beery clerked for the Michigan Court of Appeals and then entered private practice. His practice experience was wide-ranging; he did everything from try a murder case to draft municipal contracts. His passions, however, were legal research, writing, and appellate practice. He gave up private practice to accept a full-time position at Cooley in 2002.
A frequent writer and speaker on legal and political issues, Beery has been especially interested in promoting the concept of equal protection for the LGBT community under the U.S. Constitution.
